Effective Communications

WATCH: DISC Styles. Communication is critical to our work, so it is important to understand that others communicate different than we do. Watch these videos to understand the DISC styles.

Self Assessment—Determine the DISC areas you are higher in. Scores do not mean you cannot do the other areas, it just shows where you are most comfortable.

Reflect: Think about your own classroom and the way you work with others and manage staff. Talk to a colleague or mentor about their program. What ideas can you start tomorrow to get everyone working toward a common purpose?

Term of the Month:  “Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)” -   A plan that is based on the results of a functional behavioral assessment (FBA) and, at a minimum, includes a description of the problem behavior, global and specific hypotheses as to why the problem behavior occurs and intervention strategies that include positive behavioral supports and services to address the behavior.  A BIP should be written for any student whose behavior is impeding their learning or that of other students.
