  • March 28, 2024 - Night with K-State Engineering in Hays
    The Carl R. Ice College of Engineering is coming to your area! Students interested in pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science or construction science, should consider attending a Night With K-State Engineering on Thursday, Mar. 28. Representatives will give a free, interactive presentation for high school and community college students from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Hilton Garden Inn. In addition, the college will award one $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior or transfer student in attendance.

  • March 29, 2024 - FHSU Health & Behavioral Science Day
    We will be hosting the spring College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Day at Fort Hays State University, Friday, March 29, 2024. This free event is open to high school students who are currently juniors and seniors in the 2023-2024 school year, as well as transfer students interested in careers in the health and behavioral sciences. 

  • March 31, 2024 - American Legion Boys State of Kansas for Juniors and Sophomores
    The American Legion Boys State of Kansas program is a premier leadership opportunity for juniors and sophomores (2023-2024 school year).  The event is held at Kansas State University in Manhattan on June 2-8.  The total cost to participate in the program is $375.  Local organizations may sponsor a student.  See your counselor if you’re interested in this program.

  • April 1, 2024 - American Legion Auxiliary Sunflower Girls State for Juniors
    The American Legion Sunflower Girls State program in Kansas is an opportunity for young women (juniors during the 2023-24 school year) to develop leadership skills and an understanding of good citizenship.  The program is June 2-7 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.  The registration fee is $400.    Local organizations may sponsor a student.  See your counselor if you’re interested in this program.

  • April 1, 2024 - Ellis County Farm Bureau Association Ag Ambassador  
    The Ellis County Farm Bureau Association Board of Directors is seeking applications for the Ag Ambassadors. The program is designed for high school juniors interested in Agriculture & Leadership to apply for a one-year position as a non-voting board member of the Ellis County Farm Bureau Association. Two students from the school district in Ellis County will be selected. The students completing the program to its full extent will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Ellis County Farm Bureau Association. The students’ parents are not required to be Farm Bureau members to apply. 

  • April 2, 2024 - FHSU Future Engineers’ Day
    This event is open to high school juniors, seniors, and college transfer students!

  • April 5-6, 2024 - KSU for Sophomores Only
    High school sophomores get to experience college life with current students at K-State. Learn more about your personal strengths, skills, and career interests at K-State. Parents can talk with parents of current students as well as admissions and financial assistance representatives.

  • April 15, 2024 - FHSU Spring Tiger Day
    The Fort Hays State University Admissions Office invites all future Tigers to spend the morning on campus. The day is designed for high school juniors & sophomores.

  • June 5-8, 2024 - FHSU Hispanic College Institute
    The program is based on research and input from Hispanic educators and community leaders, and much of the content is delivered by Hispanics who can relate to participating students' experiences and challenges. The program is open to current class of 2025 and 2026 high school students with a 2.5 GPA or above.

  • June 12, 2024 - FHSU Nightingale Experience
    Fort Hays State University Department of Nursing proudly presents The Nightingale Experience 2024! This exciting experience is designed for those who have expressed an interest in nursing but would also benefit anyone undecided about their career plans. This opportunity is open to students in the Class of 2025. There are 3 dates being offered: June 12, Sept. 17, and Nov. 11. The event will be limited to 15 students per session, but a waitlist will be created for each date. Each session begins at 9:00 am with a tour of Stroup Hall at Fort Hays State University and will conclude at 4:30 pm on the same day, at HaysMed. With 2 site locations, students will need to have their own transportation from Stroup Hall to HaysMed. In the morning, students will experience what it’s like to be an FHSU nursing student, from joining assessment lectures to participating in lab simulations. Lunch will be provided and afterwards students will meet at the Main Entrance to HaysMed where they will observe several of their special interest areas in the hospital!

  • Aug. 10, 2024 - JH Baker Trust Student Loan
    Eligibility: be a high school graduate who lives in Rush, Barton, Ellis, Ness, or Pawnee Counties in Kansas; be less than 25 years old; be a full-time undergraduate student at a college, university or vocational technical school. (The Trust has discretion to approve such school.) A minimum of twelve credit hours, or equivalent, per semester is considered full-time; maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or greater. Loans may or may not be made in future years due to changes in need, decline in academic performance, or the capability of the Trust to fund loans.

  • Summer 2024 - Cedar Bluff Wildlife/Conservation Technician
    Involved in all aspects of WMA operation and maintenance, cultivation, spraying and planting of agriculture/food plot acres, herbicide application and noxious weed control, prescribed burning, timber management, wildlife surveys and equipment maintenance.

    The City of Hays is looking to hire seasonal maintenance workers with start dates in March, April, or May!
