Welcome to the Hays West Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative

This website has been designed in order to give as much information to parents and staff members as possible. We also believe that students, who come to this page, will find helpful information and understand the Special Education process. It is my personal philosophy that the more information you know, the better you understand and can make different choices about your student, or child. The vision of the Special Education Cooperative is to provide all students with disabilities appropriate supports needed to access grade level instruction in the least restrictive environment and supplemental aids. I truly hope you find all the information helpful and easy to find. Hays West Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative supports and coordinates the continuum of instructional services and the Child Centered Process for program eligibility, placement, and programming by working collaboratively with parents, teachers, campus administration, central office administration, and the community to support the individual needs of students with disabilities through staff development, on-site support, and instructional program development.

Hays West Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative advocates for all students in need of additional support. Through the Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) process, we offer general education support, training, and consultation to assist all learners experience success in the general education curriculum. We continuously strive to make a meaningful contribution in the lives of all children. Please feel free to contact me at (785)-623-2400 or by email at should you have any questions or concerns.

About Me:

am so excited to be a part of the Hays West Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative. I have been in education for the past twelve years. I am a National Board certified teacher with a doctoral degree in Education.

I am a strong proponent of inclusive education, believing it is beneficial both for students with special needs and those in general education programs. I come with a wealth of resources on inclusive education and hope to provide ongoing support to our teachers. I am also a big supporter of bringing 21st century learning and positive behavior support in our classrooms. I believe that as we use assistive technology with children who have special needs and watch them grow, I am convinced that if we do this across the curriculum, we’ll be able to open any curriculum area to any child.

Some of my leisure time interests include listening to country music, reading news, and cheering on my favorite college football and basketball teams. Check out my favorite basketball team, the Jayhawks!
